Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
One of the best investments any of us can make is time spent with children. Listening to them, speaking truth to them and helping them to see the Glory of God and the plan that He has for them. Kids matter, and more of us need to take time to let them know that.
I have been blessed to have been able to volunteer at Camp Rockmont, a Christian boys camp in Black Mountain, North Carolina for the past several summers. Seeing boys truly get to be boys, and seeing the unique creatures God has created them to be has been a fantastic experience. Whether its instructing a canoeing session or just being a "Camp Dad" time spent with these young men at camp is a valuable investment. I return each time energized and encouraged about the men of this next generation and the potential God has placed within them to do great things!
I have also been blessed to have a household of young men of my own to invest in, and am active in volunteering as a coach for baseball, soccer and well…life! Raising boys into young men and eventually into Godly members of the community is the most important role I’ve been given. I am fortunate to work with a great group of men and women at Mennonite Mutual Insurance Company who keep me focused and encouraged in the task!
