A December Fire Decimates Wildwood Chapel

On December 11, 2019, Wildwood Chapel caught fire overnight. When the sun rose the next morning, all that remained of the church was smoke and ash. Pastor Tim Prince and the Wildwood Chapel Family reached out to their local agent as soon as possible, and the adjuster was onsite the next morning.

“I was very impressed and satisfied with our recent claims experience with Mennonite Mutual Insurance Company… They had their fire investigation wrapped up quickly, and then worked with us to purchase an existing church building that was for sale in the area. We were able to purchase this other building, and they assisted us in making renovations and repairs. We were treated with the utmost respect and understanding during the whole claims process from beginning to end.”

A Prompt Arrival to Shaggy Apple Farms Barn Fire

A beautiful Friday afternoon in September turned chaotic when a barn at Shaggy Apple Farm burst into flames. Evan Hershberger, a local Mennonite Mutual agent, arrived at the insured’s farm as soon as he could, thinking that the company adjuster might not be able to come onsite until they received the loss notice, perhaps Saturday or maybe even Monday.

“The impressive thing was that I was on scene maybe 15 minutes before Mennonite Mutual’s adjuster arrived. He was very professional as the insured was dealing with Case Farms representatives, construction folks and fire department leaders. We said a quick hello and then had to wait close to 45 minutes before we had some time with the insured. The adjuster was patient with this and once we had the insured’s ear he showed empathy. He  and I walked the scene and he gave me the play by play of what he was looking for and his thoughts. … On a late Friday afternoon he could have rushed through things wanting to get the weekend started or get to a football game somewhere, but I never once got the feeling that he was in a hurry. He wanted to make sure that both the insured and I had clear direction before he left.”
