Mennonite Mutual’s
Company History

A group of Mennonite men, including Jerome Monroe Smucker and D.C. Hostetler, formed the Mennonite Aid Plan to protect against property loss from fire and storms.

The organization received a new charter and expanded coverage statewide, becoming the Mennonite Mutual Insurance Association.

Transitioned to a full-service insurance company, offering property, liability, and auto coverage under the new name Mennonite Mutual Insurance Company.

While our roots are in the Mennonite community, we now serve individuals and organizations across Ohio and Indiana whose values and insurance needs align with our mission—especially churches, farms, and faith-based organizations.
